Change Management

CLIENT: Nationwide Logistics Company: a change management package ... the renaming and division of the existing company ... lifting staff morale ... ongoing programme of training and support.

The logistics company was looking to introduce a series of significant improvements to its business. Increasingly strong competition from home shopping companies, other logistics groups and the internet led the company  to redefine its role in the marketplace. In addition, there was an urgent need to address longstanding personnel issues which were damaging the company's ability to deliver the high level of service required.

Members of the Hiltrain team designed a change management package incorporating the renaming and division of the company, a company-wide presentation to announce the changes to the workforce and a series of question and answer sessions to reassure staff about the ongoing change process.

Following the successful introduction of the new company name, a programme of personnel-focused initiatives was launched. Members of the Hiltrain team helped to address the identified problem issues of absenteeism and huge staff turnover. We developed a new staff induction programme and introduced a staff handbook and regular team briefings. A new programme of health care and social benefits was also introduced.

Following the programme, absenteeism and staff turnover levels dropped significantly and the company's main distribution centre recorded record outputs. In addition, the training lead time for inductees fell from twenty-three weeks to just five.
